Delhi police constable beaten at Tikri border by protesters

New Delhi : The movement of farmers has been going on for more than two months on the borders of Delhi. Meanwhile, a constable was beaten up by agitators on the Tikri border between Haryana and Delhi on Friday. Policemen had arrived at the border to put up posters of the missing farmers at the time of the incident. Police officers have maintained silence on the matter.

Constable Jitendra Rana posted at Nangloi police station reached the Tikri border on Friday. He went there to put up posters of farmers who have been missing since the violence that allegedly took place during the January 26 tractor parade. On seeing the policeman coming towards them, the agitators came near the platform of the Kisan Morcha.

A senior official said that the injured policeman has been admitted to the nearest hospital for treatment. An FIR has been registered in the case and investigations are on. The incident took place around 6:30 pm on Friday evening. Pulikarmi was not in her dress at that time and was wearing plain clothes.

When the farmers present near the stage found their expressions suspicious, they started questioning them. Due to this, the policemen were scared. This increased suspicion of farmers. He thought that the person was a crook and came to disrupt the peasant movement.

The young peasants grabbed the policeman and beat him. Due to which constable Jitendra got head injury. When the other Delhi Police employees present near the barricade got information, they persuaded the farmers and rescued him. They got him admitted to the hospital for treatment.
