New Delhi : The third match of the Border-Gavaskar Test Series, played between India and Australia, started today (Thursday) on the Sydney ground. The match being played on the Sydney ground was disturbed due to rain, due to which the match started a little late. The Australian team won the toss and decided to bat first. At the same time, before the start of the innings, when both teams came for the national anthem, the Indian team’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj got tears in his eyes.

This video of Mohammed Siraj on social media is going viral very fast and many former players are praising this young player and telling how special it is for a player to play for the country.

At the end of the first day, Mohammed Siraj gave the reason for crying during the national anthem and said that he had become emotional because during the national anthem, he remembered his father that he was waiting for this moment throughout his life. He always wanted to see me playing Test cricket for the country, that’s why he became emotional thinking that if he was alive, he would have seen me today playing for India.

The BCCI has shared a video of Mohammed Siraj on his official Twitter handle in which he is seen saying, ‘I missed my father at the time of the National Anthem, due to which I got tears in my eyes. My father always wanted to see me playing Test cricket for the country, so he became emotional thinking that if he had stayed, he would have seen today.

Mohammed Siraj’s Father died in November 2020 and he did not go to his father’s funeral because of his responsibility to the country and fulfilled his father’s dream by playing for the country.
