New Delhi : Jeff Bezos, the founder and owner of e-commerce giant Amazon, will step down as CEO this year. He announced it himself on Tuesday. Jeff Bezos, who made a startup company the world’s largest company, will now handover the responsibility of the post to Andi Jessie.

According to news agency AFP, 57-year-old Bezos has announced that he will be replaced by Andi Jessie. Andi is currently the chief of Amazon’s web services. This role transition will happen in the third quarter of this year. Bezos is leaving this post after nearly 30 years.

In a blog written for his employees, Bezos has stated that he plans to focus on new products at Amazon. He explained that leaving the CEO position, he would have more time to focus on space exploration company Blue Origin as well as other side projects. However, Bezos will still be the company’s largest shareholder and will continue to dominate the company.

Amazon executive Brian Olsavsky told the media, ‘Actually Jeff is going nowhere. It is just a change in the role of people.’
