New Delhi : Farmers’ agitation going on for the past two months in Delhi turned violent on the Republic Day tractor march. Protesters who took to the streets against agriculture laws entered the Red Fort. Police stormed a rally in riot gear on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters who came in trucks. 300 police personnel were injured. The Home Ministry has started taking steps to take action in this regard.

The Home Ministry has directed the Delhi Police and neighboring states to take stern action against those involved in the Republic Day violence. The Delhi Police Crime Branch will investigate yesterday’s violence. A special investigation team will be set up till this evening. The team will investigate the pre-violence incidents and the subsequent violence.

Farmers are protesting in Delhi-NCR against the central government’s agriculture laws. According to sources in the Home Ministry, the farmers’ unions may have to vacate the affected areas by this evening. The Home Ministry can give such an order. Strict action may be taken if farmers’ organizations refuse to vacate the protest sites.

Additional police forces have been deployed in areas where violence erupted on Republic Day. The move came after Delhi Police informed the Home Ministry. The situation in the area where yesterday’s violence erupted is now under control. Paramilitary personnel will arrive in Delhi by this evening. Alerts have been issued in all parts of neighboring states like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Special security forces have been deployed in Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.
