New Delhi : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made a big announcement while presenting the budget as the fuel crisis has broken the backbone of the common man in the Corona crisis. An agricultural cess will be levied to help farmers. The big blow to this decision is likely to fall on petrol, diesel. This is because a cess of Rs 4 has been imposed on diesel and Rs 2.5 on petrol. This cess will be levied on premium fuels like branded petrol diesel i.e. speed, extra mile. This means that the government has tried to create a separate fund for the agricultural sector. Therefore, the general public will not be affected by this decision, nor will their pockets be cut, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar.

At present, petrol in Mumbai costs Rs 92.86 and diesel Rs 83.30 per liter. The cess will be levied on the company’s branded petrol and diesel. As a result, cess will have to be paid by the companies. This price hike will not affect the pockets of the common man, informed Javadekar. This was reported on social media and some portals. It said petrol and diesel prices would go up by Rs 2.5 to Rs 4 per liter. However, Javadekar has denied the news.

Only taxes have been re-planned, the government has reduced excise and introduced a new agricultural cess. Therefore, there will be no increase in petrol and diesel prices, which is a matter of happiness for all, said Javadekar while reacting to the budget. Let no one misunderstand, consumers will not have to bear the brunt of this cess. The basic excise duty and special additional excise duty have been reduced, including the imposition of agricultural cess on petrol and diesel. Therefore, increasing the agricultural cess will not hurt the consumers.
