Jammu-Kashmir DDC Election : BJP becomes the largest party in the valley with 74 seats

Srinagar : The counting of elections for 280 seats of District Development Council in Jammu and Kashmir continues. During this, the fate of 2178 candidates is being decided. The counting started at 9 am yesterday. So far, results of 273 out of total 280 seats have been revealed. The Farooq Abdullah-led Gupkar alliance has won 140 seats. At the same time, BJP has emerged as the largest party in counting so far. BJP has so far won 74 seats.

Apart from this, independents have also done well. Independents account for 49 seats so far. The Congress has got 25 seats, while Apni party has also managed to win 12 seats. BJP’s performance has been better in Jammu region than in Kashmir Valley. This is the first time BJP has won against PDP and NC in Kashmir Valley. BJP has got three seats in the valley.
