New Delhi : According to data from the Union Ministry of Health, 45,209 new cases of Coronavirus disease have been reported across India in the last 24 hours and 501 people have died. Today’s figures are slightly lower than the infection numbers 46,232 and 564 deaths on Saturday. At present, there are 90,95,806 infected people in the country and the death toll has increased to 133,227.

Increasing cases have forced many states to reimpose restrictions and close schools. Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan have imposed curfew in many districts and Delhi has imposed heavy fines for not wearing masks in public places. The dashboard of the Ministry of Health shows 440,962 active Covid-19 cases and recovery of 85,21,617 people till 8 am. National recovery rate is 93.68%.

The Health Ministry said on Saturday that “A daily infection rate of 4.34% suggests that a comparatively large amount of testing was done to detect these cases from the population. With a steady increase in daily cases in European and American countries, India is taking all precautions to bring the disease trajectory under control. Given the increase in Covid cases in some states of North India, the Center has advised all the states and union territories to conduct the test ”.

It further said, “24 states and union territories have conducted more tests per million population than India. 12 states / UTs have had fewer tests per million than the national average, and are advised to increase test levels”.
