Mumbai : Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) batsman Chris Gayle scored 99 runs during the match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Friday. He missed a century by just one run. After failing to score the 23rd century of T20 career, he threw his bat in despair. It is considered a violation of the code of conduct. The IPL has fined him 10 percent of the match fees.

Left-handed batsman Gayle completed his 1000th six in T20 by hitting a seventh six during a stormy innings at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, but he missed to score a century by just one run. After this, he threw his bat on the pitch.

He needed just one run to complete his century. But in the last over of KXIP, Joffra Archer clean bowled Gayle on his Yorker. Gayle played 63 balls in his innings. During this, he hit 8 sixes and 6 fours.

In fact, 41-year-old Gayle, who calls himself ‘Universe Boss’, tried to hit his bat on the ground in desperation, but the bat slipped from his hand and fell far enough. However, after that he did shake hands with Jofra Archer.

The IPL said in its statement, “Kings XI Punjab batsman Chris Gayle has been fined 10 percent of the match fees for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct in the match against Rajasthan Royals.” Gayle has admitted his mistake.
