Filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt files a defamation case of 1 crore against Luveina Lodh
Mumbai: Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and his brother Mukesh Bhatt filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court on Monday against actress Luveina Lodh for making defamatory and false allegations. The Bhatt brothers have also demanded damages of one crore rupees from Lodh and requested to give orders to her to prevent from making such false claims in future.
Both applications were listed before a single bench of Justice AK Menon for early hearing. The bench heard this and directed Lodh to file an answer on it. The single bench will now hear the case after three weeks.
Lodh’s lawyer assured the court that she would not publish any such statement against Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. Lodh had posted a video on social media last week in which she claimed that she is married to Sumit Sabharwal, nephew of Mahesh Bhatt.
Bhatt brothers sent notice to Lodh through lawyer
Lodh has alleged in the video that Sabharwal is involved in the illegal trade in drugs and human trafficking. Lodh also alleged that this business is run by Mahesh Bhatt. After the video was posted, Mahesh Bhatt sent a legal notice to Lodh through his lawyer Ameet Naik and asked him not to make such false statements.
On Monday, the Bhatt brothers filed a case in the Bombay High Court requesting Lodh to stop making, publishing and broadcasting any defamatory and derogatory remarks against him. The suit also seeks a compensation of one crore rupees from the defendant (Lodh) for various derogatory and false allegations and statements. It also requested to instruct Lodh to remove her video.”
The suit claims that Sabharwal has no direct relationship with the Bhatt brothers and is ‘the son of the brother of the husband of the sister of the petitioners’. Later, it has also been said that Lodh has entered into an arbitrary agreement in the matter of divorce with her husband. With the intention of making false allegations against Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt, who are famous personalities.
