38 Bollywood Filmmakers Including Salman, Shah Rukh And Aamir's Production Houses Sue Media Channels

Mumbai : Following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, campaigns are being run on social media and mainstream media against some big names in the film industry. After Rhea Chakraborty’s arrest, a drug angle investigation has started in Bollywood.

According to the news, it seems that Bollywood has united against such media reporting. According to reports, 34 filmmakers have filed a case against some media houses in Delhi High Court. A civil case has been filed in the Delhi High Court on 12 October.

Major productions and 34 top filmmakers in the Bollywood industry have filed cases against Arnab Goswami, Pradeep Bhandari of Republic TV and Rahul Shivshankar of Times Now, Navika Kumar. It said that the channel and social media platforms ‘refrain from printing and making irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks about Bollywood and its members.’

Production houses that have filed case cases include Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Salman Khan Films, Aamir Khan Productions, Ajay Devgan Films, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment.

The petition filed appealed that the defamatory remarks against Bollywood celebrities should not be telecasted and it should be controlled while conducting media trials. Also, the petition said that the rights of privacy of actors and those associated with the film industry should not be violated.

Bollywood filmmakers in their petition said that ‘the defendants should abide by the provisions of the program code under the Cable Television Networks Rules 1994 and withdraw or remove the offending content published against Bollywood.’
