ED investigation claims foreign funding to incite riot
according to the initial report of the Enforcement Directorate, the Popular Front of India (PFI) had received Rs 50 crore from Mauritius to spread communal riots under the pretext of this incident. The ED has claimed that the entire funding was more than Rs 100 crore. The whole matter is being investigated.
Notably, four suspects were arrested from Meerut on charges of plotting riots in Hathras. All four were said to have links with the PFI organization. Police had recovered inflammatory literature from them. Earlier, the UP police has also claimed a riot conspiracy through a website.
The website, created in the name of justice for the Hathras victim, said many objectionable things. The ED has also registered a case on the aspect of conspiracy to commit violence in Hathras. An initial investigation by the ED has revealed that more than Rs 100 crore was funded to incite communal violence in UP.
According to the UP government, a website called Justice for Hathras was created overnight to tarnish the image of PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath in the world by plotting ethnic riots in the state. Thousands of people were added to the website through fake IDs.
The UP government claims that under the guise of protests, the website explained how to spread riots in the country and the state and how to escape after the riots. Funding was being provided for riots under the pretext of help. There are also clues to the misuse of social media to spread rumors through funding. Investigating agencies have got the website details and solid information.
According to the UP government, the website described the strategy of targeting police and administrative officials under the guise of protests by wearing face masks. Various tricks were explained to divide the majority and sow the seeds of hatred in the state. Extremely offensive content was found on the website.
Significantly, a Dalit girl was gangraped on 14 September in Hathras, UP, after which she died on 29 September in Delhi. After her death, the way the UP police performed the last rites of the young woman in the darkness of the night, it created a lot of controversy. Many social organizations from political parties raised questions on the UP government.
