200 Special Trains To Be Introduced In Festive Season Between October 15 To November 30

New Delhi : Indian Railways is planning to run 200 special trains between October 15 and November 30 in the festive season. The information was given by Railway Board Chairman and CEO VK Yadav on Thursday. In the wake of the Corona pandemic, Railways have canceled all normal passenger trains indefinitely at present. These trains are canceled from 22 March.

Railways started operating 15 special Rajdhani trains connecting Delhi to various parts of the country from May 12, and started operating 100 long-distance trains from 1st June. The railway is also running 80 additional trains since 12 September.

Yadav said that we have held a meeting with the general managers of the zone and directed them to consult the local administration and review the status of coronavirus infection. A report has been sought from them and it will be decided on the basis of how many special trains will be run during the festive season. At present, we estimate that about 200 trains will run, but it is our estimate, the number may be even more.

Yadav said that the Railways have decided to review the passenger amenities daily in view of the needs of the state governments and the epidemic situation. He said that as far as passenger trains are concerned, we will daily review the requirement of trains, traffic and the situation of Covid-19. We will run trains wherever needed.
