Chamoli : 32 dead bodies recovered, 197 people still missing, Rescue work on

New Delhi : In the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Sunday, many people lost their lives in the glacier burst incident and many are missing. Rescue work is still going on in the district. After the rise of the Alaknanda after the glacier broke, there was a scene of heavy destruction in the state. The bodies of 32 people have been recovered in this accident so far and 197 people are still missing.

NTPC’s 480MW Tapovan-Vishnugad Hydro Power Project and 13.2 MW Rishiganga Project in Chamoli have also suffered heavy losses. Many houses were also washed away in the flood.

Over 600 security personnel deployed
After this incident, more than 600 Army, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF personnel are engaged in rescue work. These jawans are transporting food, medicines and other essential things to the flood affected and remote villages. State CM Trivendra Singh Rawat tweeted and thanked the ITBP jawans.

Indian Navy personnel are also engaged in rescue work. According to the latest information, 25-35 people are trapped in the 2.5 km long tunnel of Tapovan-Vishnugarh project of NTPC. Rescue work is going on to get these people out of the tunnel. The water level in the tunnel is constantly increasing. According to an official, efforts are being made to contact people trapped in the tunnel through special machines. Authorities hope that people will be pulled out of the safe tunnel. However, the people trapped in the tunnel could not be contacted.

In the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, Amit Shah replied that it is difficult to estimate how long we will remove the debris from the tunnel. However, the project engineer has been asked to find some other way to remove the debris.
