Pune : Fire broke out at Terminal 1 Gate of Serum Institute of India in Pune on Thursday afternoon. There is no information right now about the damage due to the fire.

The cause of the fire has not been cleared yet. Fire engines have reached the spot and the work of extinguishing the fire is going on. Serum Institute of India is making the Corona Vaccine Covishield, which is being supplied in many countries including India.

It is being told that the fire incident is reported at new plant of Serum Institute of India located in Manjari, Pune. There is a plan to mass produce the Corona Vaccine Covicield in this plant built at a cost of 300 crores. Only last year, Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated this plant, but the production of vaccine has not started in this plant.

On the spot, 7 to 8 carts of fire engines are present and efforts are being made to extinguish the fire. The fire has not been controlled yet. The cause of the fire and how many people are trapped in the terminal, has also not been revealed. A black gust of smoke is visible from above the plant. Production of Covishield in this five-storey plant is going to start in a few days.

However, it is reported that the area where the corona vaccine is being prepared at present at Serum Institute of India, one of the world’s largest vaccine manufacturers, is completely safe.
