Modi Government sends fresh invite to protesting farmer unions for talks

New Delhi : Farmers’ organizations agitating against agricultural laws may have refused the government’s negotiation proposals, but the government is constantly approaching them. Therefore, the government has sent a call to the farmers’ organizations once again on Thursday. All those points have been mentioned in detail in the government letter, which was also sent to the farmers associations earlier.

Vivek Aggarwal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, has refused to include those points in the letter which are not related to the three laws related to agricultural reform. The minimum support price (MSP) is the main one. The decision to give the date and time of the talks has been left to the farmers. The talks will be with the Ministerial Committee at Vigyan Bhawan.

The government has written this letter, responding to some of the issues raised by the farmers’ organizations. Farmers’ organizations object that no proposal has been made to amend the Essential Commodities Act in the government’s letter dated 20 December. The Ministry of Agriculture has clarified that a written proposal was made in respect of all the issues that were identified during the three December talks. Nevertheless, the government is ready to discuss the issues which may have remained related to these laws.

The government has once again called agitating farmers’ organizations for protesting against the new agricultural laws. The government has sent a letter to the farmers. The government has once again given a written assurance on MSP, the minimum support price.

The minimum support price (MSP) is the main one. The task of telling the date and time of the negotiations has been left to the farmers. The talks will be with the Ministerial Committee at Vigyan Bhawan.

Government wrote letter
The government has written this letter, responding to some of the issues raised by the farmers’ organizations. Ready to give written assurance on MSP –
1- The introduction of these three agricultural laws has not affected the MSP and the procurement mechanism.

2- The government is ready to give written assurance to continue the system of MSP and government procurement.

3- It does not seem appropriate to put any new demands or to engage in negotiations in this regard.

4- The government has sent a call letter to the leaders of all the 40 farmer organizations agitating for talks.
