Ammonia gas leaks at IFFCO, 2 officers died, Health of many critical

Lucknow : Ammonia gas leaked late last night at Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) in Phulpur, Uttar Pradesh. The condition of 14 people, including two officers, deteriorated due to leakage of ammonia gas in the urea unit. All were sent to a hospital in the city. Where Assistant Manager VP Singh and Deputy Manager Abhyanandan died. After the incident, there has been a stir in the entire campus.

IFFCO of Phulpur on Jaunpur-Gorakhpur road has two units of ammonia and urea manufacturing. Around 11.30 pm on Tuesday night, a sudden ammonia gas leakage occurred in the urea unit, which created an atmosphere of chaos. Employees on duty started to run out. In this whole incident, 14 people were hit by gas, due to which their condition deteriorated.

Somehow, people were rushed out of the factory and admitted to the city hospital. The cause of the gas leak is not yet known. However, it is feared that the leakage of gas occurred due to leakage in a pump in the urea unit.
