PM Modi-Sheikh Hasina inaugurates Chilahati-Haldibari rail link, Service will resume after 55 years

Bilateral talks are taking place between India and Bangladesh today. These talks are being done in a virtual way, in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina participated. PM Modi assured Bangladesh that Bangladesh is in his priorities in the Corona era. Simultaneously, Chilhati-Haldibari rail link was started, both countries have also signed several MoUs.

In his address here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that both countries are connected to each other through virtual means for a long time, after Vijay Diwas, our meeting is very important. PM Modi said that on the occasion of Vijay Diwas, the torch will be carried throughout the country. PM Modi said that strengthening and deepening relations with Bangladesh is our priority.

PM Modi said that there has been good cooperation of India-Bangladesh during the Corona period, both of them will continue to cooperate in the work of vaccines. PM Modi said that both countries are emphasizing on connectivity, which shows our friendship. India always respects the Bangladeshi brothers.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina said in her address that both countries are celebrating Vijay Diwas. The Bangladeshi PM paid tribute to the Indian soldiers who died in the 1971 war. Sheikh Hasina shared her difficult times with her family during the war.

Sheikh Hasina said that both countries have come closer during the Corona period, mutual relations between people of both countries have also strengthened. Both countries have started many new works of connectivity in this year, India has faced the Corona period. India is going to play an important role in the world economy in the coming times.

This bilateral dialogue between the two countries is also special because it has to emphasize on transport and connectivity. The two countries resumed the rail link between Chilahati-Haldibari. This rail link was closed during the 1965 war between India and Pakistan.

With the start of this link, connectivity between Bangladesh to Assam and Bengal can be improved. Initially this link will be used for goods movement, later passenger service can start.
