Case filed against Saif Ali Khan for hurting religious sentiments
Mumbai : A case has been filed against Saif Ali Khan for talking about the human aspects of Ravana in his upcoming film Adipurush. Saif Ali Khan said in an interview that the film attempts to justify the human aspects of Ravana and the kidnapping of Sita. Saif Ali Khan also apologized after it was disputed. Now a Uttar Pradesh lawyer has filed a case against Saif Ali Khan and film director Om Raut for hurting religious sentiments. The case will be heard in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Jaunpur. The court has fixed December 23 for hearing the petition.
Civil court advocate Himanshu Srivastava has said in his petition that he is a follower of Sanatan Dharma and his religious sentiments have been hurt by Saif Ali Khan’s comments. He said that Lord Rama has been considered a symbol of good, while Ravana is seen as evil. Saif Ali Khan, who is going to play the role of Ravana in the Adipurush movie, said in a statement, ‘It will be interesting for me to play Ravana’s role. But in the film we have tried to present Ravana with a human point of view. Apart from this, there has been an attempt to show Sita’s abduction and war with Rama as revenge also because Ravana’s sister Shuparnakha had her nose cut by Lakshman.’
However, after the controversy, Saif Ali Khan said that he retracts his statement and apologizes if anyone’s religious feelings are hurt. Himanshu Srivastava has claimed in his petition that Saif Ali Khan in his interview has tried to portray faith in Sanatan Dharma in a negative way. Not only this, Srivastava has also introduced some people as witnesses in his petition. He said that these witnesses have also seen the interview online and they also said that this has hurt their religious sentiments.
Saif gave clarification after the dispute
In Maharashtra BJP leader Ram Kadam also opposed Saif Ali Khan’s statement. After several comments and controversy, Saif Ali Khan had said, ‘I have come to know that some of my comments during the interview have caused controversy and hurt people’s sentiments. It was not my intention and I didn’t want to say something that hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. I sincerely apologize to all such people and withdraw my statement.’
