Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi passes away

New Delhi: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has passed away at the age of 86. Today, his death has been reported at 5.35 pm. State Health Minister Himant Biswa Sarma has also confirmed his death. Earlier, due to non-functioning of many organs of Tarun Gogoi, his health deteriorated and he fainted with difficulty in breathing. State Health Minister Himant Biswa Sarma gave this information on Saturday.

The minister had told that senior Congress leader Gogoi (86) was admitted to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on November 2 after complaining of restlessness. Sarma reached GMCH hospital to get information about Gogoi’s health. Had said, “Around noon today, his condition deteriorated due to difficulty in breathing. Therefore, doctors started an intubation ventilator, which was machine ventilation.”

Sarma said that Gogoi is “completely unconscious” and many of his organs have stopped functioning. Gogoi was infected with covid-19 on 25 August. Prime Minister Modi has also condoled the death of Tarun Gogoi. Prime Minister Modi said that “Tarun Gogoi was a popular leader and an experienced administrator. He had political experience in Assam as well as at the Center. I am saddened by his demise. My condolences to his family and supporters in this hour of grief.”
