New Delhi : India on Monday welcomed the removal of Sudan from the list of state-sponsored terrorism. The Foreign Ministry said in an official statement, India’s relations with Sudan are historic and special. Our relationship is based on shared values and close contacts with the citizens of both countries.

We welcome Sudan to be excluded from the list of state-sponsored terrorism and normalize relations with Israel. We congratulate the Government of Sudan on the signing of the Juba Peace Agreement and hope that these positive developments will initiate democratic change. It will also ensure peace, stability, security and development in Sudan.

Earlier, on October 27, US President Donald Trump sent a formal notice to lawmakers to remove Sudan from the list of state-sponsored terrorism. In September, the US and Sudan signed a peace deal with Israel.
