BigBasket faces data breach, Details of 2 crore customers on sale on dark web

New Delhi : A case of leakage of data of about 20 million users of e-commerce grocery company BigBasket has come to light. A complaint has been lodged in the cyber cell on behalf of the company in Bengaluru. The cyber cell team is investigating the claims made by the cyber expert.

According to news agency PTI, cyber intelligence company Cyble says that the data has breached the details of about 2 crore users of BigBasket. During regular monitoring of the Dark Web, Cyble’s research team found that BigBasket database is being sold in the cybercrime market for $ 40,000. The size of the SQL file is about 15 GB.

This data includes name, e-mail ID, password hashes, contact number (mobile and phone, address, date of birth, location and IP address. Cyble has also provided the password, while the company uses a one-time password Is, which changes every time logged in. Cyble claims that the burglary occurred on 30 October 2020.
