Modi Cabinet makes packaging of food grains in jute bags mandatory, Hikes Ethanol price

New Delhi : The Union Cabinet met on Thursday under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which three important decisions were taken. Giving information about the cabinet decision, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the first decision was made about the new price of ethanol made from sugar. Now the price of this will be Rs 62.65 a liter. Ethanol B Heavy will cost Rs 57.61, C Heavy will cost Rs 45.69.

Javadekar said that the second decision was taken in the cabinet meeting that jute bags would come for 100% food grains and 20% sugar would be packed in jute bags. This will boost jute cultivation, provide employment and benefit the farmers.

In addition, the second and third phases of the plan for the protection and repair of dams were approved in the Union Cabinet.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that today, Phase II and Phase III of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) have been approved in the cabinet. The 10-year project (April 2021 to March 2031) will be in two phases with an estimated cost of Rs 10,211 crore.

During the press briefing of the cabinet, it was reported that 80 percent of the project budget for these dams will come from the World Bank and AIIB. With this, the number of dams will be increased in the second phase of the plan. 19 states of the country have been included in this scheme.
