Sasikala’s Assets Worth Rs 2000 Crore Frozen : Income Tax Department

New Delhi : The Income Tax Department on Wednesday frozen assets worth Rs 2000 crore owned by Sasikala, a close aide of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa under the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act. Two of the frozen properties are worth Rs 300 crore. These properties located at Siruthavur and Kodanad in Tamil Nadu are named after Jayalalithaa’s associates Sasikala, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran.

According to the information, the Income Tax Department has pasted notices outside Sasikala’s frozen properties. The Income Tax Department has shared this information. On Wednesday, the Income Tax Department issued a statement saying, “Income Tax Department today attached assets belonging to former CM J Jayalalithaa’s aide Sasikala in Kodanad and Siruthavur areas of Tamil Nadu. Assets worth Rs 2000 crore  frozen.”

It is known that VK Sasikala and her two relatives Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran are currently in jail. These people are serving a four-year sentence in the case of disproportionate assets.
