New Delhi : Amid the ongoing dispute between India and China, the Central Government has taken a big decision. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has approved the creation of a secure communication system for the military. Along with this, an order for a hand grenade worth Rs 409 crore has also been placed.

The project for a secure communication system is worth Rs 7,800 crore. This will greatly improve the state of network coverage around Line of Actual Control. The biggest benefit from this is that the army will be able to keep a close watch on the latest LAC conditions.

The army has also ordered a grenade for the first time under Make in India. In this project of Rs 409 crore, the army will get 10 lakh hand grenades from a private company. Till now India is using vintage design grenades of the time of World War II.

CCS has approved the fourth phase of the Army Static Switched Communication Network (ASCON). This work was stopped for a long time. It will take three years now for this communication system to be fully operational. Talking on what will be the benefit, the official associated with the defense sector said that with the help of the project, the communication coverage of the network on the international borders (LAC and LOC) will be good. This will help the army. This project will also give strength to self-sufficient India, because 80 percent of the material in the ASCON Phase IV project will be indigenous.
