Maharashtra may enter re-lockdown phase, Hints CM Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai : Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday sent out a clear message amid spiralling cases of Covid-19 in Maharashtra that lockdown is needed in some places and the government would take a call in the next few days.

Uddhav Thackeray said, “We have to take a decision in some days, the decision of lockdown needs to be taken in some places.”

A latest update given by news agency ANI says that a complete lockdown will be imposed in Nagpur City Police Commissionerate area from March 15 to March 21. As informed by the Nagpur Guardian Minister Nitin Raut, essential services will continue.

He said this while interacting with reporters after taking the Covid-19 vaccine at the Sir J. J. Hospital in Mumbai.

According to Maharashtra CM, cases are increasing in some places. However, people need to take care and follow protocols and SOPs. He said, “If you are eligible for the vaccine, must get it at this stage.”

Covid-19 cases have increased by around 11,000 on average over the last week in Maharashtra. On the other side, more than 2,000 cases are being reported daily in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Cases are also on the rise in places like Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Amravati.
