All-rounder Indian cricketer Yusuf Pathan announces retirement

Mumbai : Team India’s star all-rounder Yusuf Pathan on Friday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Yusuf Pathan, who played 57 One-Day and 22 T20 Internationals for India, decided to say goodbye to cricket with an emotional post on social media. Pathan wrote, I thank my family, friends, fans, teams, coaches and the whole country wholeheartedly for all the support and love.

Yusuf Pathan made his international debut against Pakistan in the final of the 2007 T20 World Cup. However, he could not do much in his debut match. He was dismissed for only 15 runs. But India defeated Pakistan by five runs in the final and won the T20 World Cup title. Yusuf Pathan was also a part of Team India in the 2011 World Cup.

Yusuf Pathan was out of the Indian team for the last several years. In 2012, Pathan played his last ODI and T20. Even in the IPL, no franchise was interested in including him in the team. Last year also he did not play IPL and this year also he missed.

In the IPL, Yusuf Pathan was part of Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2019. Yusuf Pathan scored a century in just 37 balls against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2010, which is also the second fastest century of the tournament so far. Yusuf was seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the year 2019. Yusuf has scored 3204 runs in 174 matches at a strike rate of 143.0. During this, he scored a century and 13 half-centuries.
