Pune : The Serum Institute of India and UNICEF have entered into an agreement for the long-term supply of Corona vaccine Covishield and Novavax. Under the agreement, 1.1 billion vaccine doses will be sent to 100 countries. India is one of the largest pharmaceutical producing countries in the world and many countries have approached India to purchase corona vaccine. The Corona Vaccine Covishield of Oxford-AstraZeneca is manufactured by the Serum Institute in Pune. Novavax is manufactured by US-based Novavax Inc. Henrietta Four, Executive Director of UNICEF, announced the agreement with Serum.

“We have placed an order to supply 1.1 billion vaccine doses to 100 countries, including several organizations, including the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO),” said Henrietta Four, Executive Director of UNICEF. The vaccine will be given to low- and middle-income people at a cost of $ 3.

“We look forward to working with SII to distribute these vaccines to countries that are subject to WHO vaccine approvals,” said UNICEF. COVAX has taken the initiative to vaccinate low-income people against corona. This is the leadership of the United Nations.

The Corona vaccine will be given to workers and low-income groups in 145 countries at cheaper rates under the COVAX initiative. For this, the organizations involved in COVAX have entered into agreements with several companies that manufacture corona vaccines.
