New Delhi : Pakistan’s Imran government has not been able to buy a single dose of Corona vaccine yet, but China has given them 5 lakh doses for free. Before the Chinese dose arrived in Pakistan, Pakistan was overwhelmed when the way to get 1.70 crore Indian vaccines free was cleared.

Pakistan was the first to give emergency approval to vaccines Kovishield prepared by Oxford-AstraZeneca and Serum Institute of Technology, but Imran Khan’s government has neither enough money to buy vaccines nor so much dare to ask for a vaccine from the Government of India. However, Pakistan, in an attempt to get it from the backdoor, had given permission to the state governments and the private sector to buy.

Meanwhile on Sunday, Imran Khan’s Special Assistant (Health), Dr. Faisal Sultan has announced that from next month (February), Pakistan is also going to get AstraZeneca vaccine. He said that delivery of 60 lakh doses will be done by March and 1.70 crore doses will be available by June.

Asad Omar tweeted, “Good news on the Covid vaccine front. According to the letter from COVAX, in the first half of 2021, AstraZeneca vaccine’s 1.70 million doses will be available. Starting in February, 60 lakh doses will be available by March. We signed the COVAX program 8 months ago.”

In another tweet, he said, “It is a pleasure to say that after receiving 5 lakh doses from Sinopharma (Chinese vaccine company), 7 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be available in the first quarter. These will be given free of cost to the people. Vaccination in Pakistan is going to start next week and the healthcare workers will be vaccinated first.”
