IND vs AUS : Rishabh Pant pulls off ‘historic Test win’ for Team India

Brisbane : Team India created history by defeating Australia at the Gabba cricket ground in its impregnable fort Brisbane. Australia has not lost in Brisbane for 33 years, but Team India has made it possible and Australia’s reign at the Gabba ground has come to an end.

Pant hit a four down the ground and India won. India won the 4th Test by 3 wickets. India chased down 328 in the fourth innings to win the 4th Test vs Australia and claim the series 2-1.

A counter-attack from Shubman Gill (91) set up a thrilling hour of play on either side of the Lunch break, before Ajinkya Rahane joined Cheteshwar Pujara. Rishabh Pant was promoted to Number 5 as India looked to go for the win in the afternoon session. At Tea, India were 183/3, needing 146 to win in the final session. Pujara, after weathering numerous blows to the body, was given out LBW on umpire’s call for 56. Pant carried on India’s charge towards a historic win in the last hour of the Test. Australia had not lost a Test at the Gabba in 32 years before this.

India has beaten Australia for the second time in a Test series at its own home. The last time India defeated Australia 2–1 in the 2018–19 Test series. The Indian team has scored a hat-trick of victories for the third consecutive time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Earlier, India won the last two series and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. India went 2–1 in the previous Australia tour in 2018/19 and before that in 2016/17, India had defeated Australia by a similar margin in their home.
