Adelaide : No one expected such a strong comeback from Team India after a humiliating defeat in the Adelaide Test. Captain Virat Kohli returned home, while Mohammad Shami was also ruled out due to injury. Now Umesh Yadav is also injured. In this difficult situation Ajinkya Rahane showed leadership skills and gave Australia a tremendous answer. Team India won the Boxing Day Test by 8 wickets and tied the four-match series 1–1.

After good batting by Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian bowlers forced Australia to kneel in the Boxing Day Test. Australia, who came to the ground to fill India’s 131-run lead in the first innings, was dismissed for 200 runs in the second innings. Mohammad Siraj became the top wicket taker with three wickets. Jaspreet Bumrah, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each, while Umesh Yadav took one wicket.

In the second innings, Joe Burns (4), Steven Smith (8) and captain Tim Payne (1) were dismissed. Matthew Wade (40) and Maranus Labushen (28) struggled for some time. Cummins and Green held Australia to 156 for 99 in six overs. Bumrah ended their 57-run partnership in the first session of the fourth day. Cummins scored 22 runs off 103 balls. On the other hand, Green continued to struggle, but Siraj dismissed Australia’s remaining hopes by taking wicket of Green (45). With Australia scoring 200 runs in the second innings, Team India set a modest target of 70 runs to win.

Mayank Agarwal (5) and Cheteshwar Pujara (3) were dismissed. Gill and Ajinkya Rahane led the innings. Ajinkya scored the winning run. Gill remained unbeaten on 35, while Ajinkya remained unbeaten on 27. Rahane became the third Indian captain to win the Boxing Day Test after Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
