New Delhi : Farmers protest is going on since many days in the country and today is the 26th day. Farmers have intensified their agitation against the Centre’s new agri laws. Now all the farmers on all protest sites of Delhi including Haryana and Uttar Pradesh borders have begun their day-long ‘relay’ hunger strike on a chilly Monday morning at all sites of protest.

Agitating farmers will participate in the hunger strike in batches. The first batch will have 11 members, according to farmer leaders.

Balwant Singh, Secretary of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Punjab told ANI that everyday 11 farmers will sit on hunger strike for 24 hours. Thousands of farmers from Punjab-Haryana are protesting against the laws for the last over four weeks at various border points of Delhi.

The Central government has invited agitating farmers’ representatives for fresh talks to end the deadlock. The letter written by Vivek Aggarwal, Joint Secretary of Agriculture to the farmers’ representatives said, “Please provide a list of apprehensions and give appropriate dates so fresh talks can be initiated in Vigyan Bhavan so that the protest ends soon.”
