Indian Origin Woman Threw The Child From Window After Giving Birth, Charged With Murder

New Delhi : A woman of Indian origin in the US has been accused of trying to murder her own newborn. According to media reports, the woman is alleged to have secretly given birth to a child in the bathroom and threw her newborn baby on the street from a window.

According to the report, the newborn has sustained deep injuries, having suffered bleeding from head, brain swelling, fractures, including a number of problems after being thrown from a height. After the incident on Sunday, the 23-year-old mother of the child, Sabita Dookram, was first kept for some time at the Observation in a hospital and then she was taken to the police station.

The woman said during questioning that she inadvertently became the mother of a child. The woman said she gave birth to the baby in the bathtub, she panicked and threw it out the bathroom window. 
After giving birth, the woman did not inform anyone, she herself cleaned the washroom, took shower and a nap. “I had a baby out of nowhere. I went to the bathroom, and the baby popped out of me. I didn’t know what to do, I’m sorry. I panicked and threw it out of the bathroom window. I did not check on the baby. I put my clothes in the laundry hamper in the bathroom, I showered and went to sleep,” Dookram said to the investigators.
According to NBC New York TV, a neighbor found the child crying and immediately reported it to the police. Currently the newborn is placed on ventilator support.
