New Delhi : The central government has released a Rs 100 commemorative coin on October 12 in honor of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia on her birth centenary. It was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Scindia royal house is the first such royal family in the country whose commemorative coin is being issued in honor of its member. Gwalior is getting this honor for the second time. Earlier, a commemorative coin of Rs 100 has also been issued in honor of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia has been a founding member of the BJP. Her legacy in the BJP was still being handled by the cabinet minister Yashodhara Raje in the state government. 6 months ago, Jyotiraditya Scindia, grandson of Rajmata, following his footsteps, joined BJP.

The collector of the coins, Sudhir Lunavat, said that so far no commemorative coin has been issued in the name of any member of the royal family of the country. The commemorative coin of 100 rupees to be issued on Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia has been prepared in the mint of Kolkata.

On its first part, the symbol of the nation is Ashoka Pillar and below it Satyamev Jayate is inscribed. Bharat is written in Hindi and India in Roman. It has a beautiful portrait of Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia on the back. With the picture of Vijayaraje Scindia, Birth Centenary is inscribed below the date of birth 1919. This coin will never come into circulation. Only for collectors.

Silver – 50 percent
Mixture of other metals – 50 percent
