Guitarist Eddie Van Halen Succumbed To Cancer At The Age Of 65
New York : British guitarist Eddie Van Halen died at the age of 65. Eddie suffered from throat cancer for the last ten years. His health had suddenly deteriorated in the last few days. After which he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Where he breathed his last on October 6 during treatment.
Eddie’s son Wolf Van Halen has given this information on social media. Wolfgang shared Eddie’s picture, writing, ‘I can’t believe I’m writing this. But my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning. He was the best father. Every moment that I shared with him on stage or outside the stage was a gift. My heart is broken, and I don’t think I will ever be able to fully recover from this loss. I love you so much, Pop’.
Eddie was a Dutch immigrant, considered one of the greatest American guitarists of his generation. Eddie and his brother Alex founded Van Halen in Los Angeles in the early 1970s and became a staple of the hard rock band Famous Sunset Strip, which was made in 1978 before releasing their debut album. The album shot at number 19 on the Billboard charts, becoming one of the most successful debuts of the decade.
