New Delhi : During the Monsoon Session in the Lok Sabha, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said on Tuesday that from April to August this year, the Central Government under the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has transferred a total of Rs 38,282 crore to the bank accounts of farmers. He said that there is no proposal to advance payment or increase the amount under this scheme. The central government gives Rs 6000 to farmers every year in three installments under this scheme. Tomar said in a written reply that the Central Government has received some complaints that some farmers in Satara district of Maharashtra could not get the money. He said that the reason for this was the error in filling the data.

In a written reply to a question by Shiv Sena MP Kripal Tumane, the Union Agriculture Minister said that the Central Government has provided financial assistance of Rs 11 thousand crore in three years to Maharashtra to deal with the drought. In these three years, a total of 75 districts of Maharashtra have been hit by drought. Tomar said that the Center had given financial assistance of Rs 1,963 crore to Maharashtra to deal with the drought in the year 2014-15, Rs 4,344 crore in the year 2015-16 and 4,714 crore in the year 2018-19.
