Russia: Putin may leave the presidency due to ill health, claims in report

New Delhi : Russian President Vladimir Putin may step down from presidency next year. There have been reports stating that President Putin is battling Parkinson’s disease. Moscow political scientist Valery Solovi reported that the 37-year-old girlfriend of Russia’s president, Elena Kabeva, and her two daughters are asking him to step down.

Solovi said, ‘He has a family and he has a lot of influence on them. He may make public his plan to quit in January. Solovy also suggested that Putin may suffer from Parkinson’s because symptoms of the disease had appeared in the president recently.’

According to footage reviewed by an observer, Putin was recently seen shaking his legs constantly. The report states that Putin also appeared in the footage holding a cup that possibly had medicines.

Speculation about Putin quitting his presidency has come at a time when Russian legislators are considering a law proposed by the president. It talks of providing lifetime protection to former presidents from criminal prosecution.
