According to a report, a recent report by Sweden’s V-Dem Institute places India in the category of ‘electoral autocracy’. The V-Dame Institute report categorised India as an ‘electoral autocracy’ with Hungary and Turkey accused of ‘banning many aspects of democracy’. This report claimed that there are disruptions in civil society groups and free speech in India.
The report claimed that India has become as unitary as Pakistan in terms of censorship and the situation is now worse than Bangladesh.
