New Delhi : The Central Railway increased the price of platform tickets at some key stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Chief Public Relations Officer Shivaji Sutar said that platform tickets are now priced at Rs 50 at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus.

The official said that the new rate has come into effect from March 1 and will be effective till June 15 this year. He said that during summer the decision was taken to prevent excess congestion at these stations. In fact, since the second week of February, there has been an upsurge in daily COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.

So far, more than 3.25 lakh COVID-19 cases and more than 11,400 people have died due to corona in the city. Last month, Mumbai’s lifeline, that is, local train services, was resumed for the general public. Recently, it was told that every day about 36 lakh passengers are using the local rail network of the city.
