Gita and Ramayana will be taught in more than 100 madrasas, included in syllabus

New Delhi : Now Gita and Ramayana will be taught in Madrasas. The Regional National Institute of Open Schooling has decided to teach children about ancient India in more than 100 madrasas. Under this, NIOS will carry sacred texts like Geeta and Ramayana in Madrasas. According to the media report, this decision has been taken under the National Education Policy.

According to the information received, a basic course will be started for 3rd, 5th and 8th grade children. NIOS Chairman Saroj Sharma said that we are just starting with 100 madrasas, later we will take this course to 500 madrasas. According to the news published in a newspaper, NIOS has prepared 15 courses on Indian public tradition in which Vedas, Yoga, Science, Sanskrit language, Ramayana and Gita will be taught.

What is NIOS?
NIOS is one of the two national boards that conduct primary, secondary and senior secondary level courses through open and distance education. Its yoga course material taught to children includes Patanjali Kritasutra, Yogasutra Exercise, Surya Namaskar, Asanas, Pranayama, Stress Relieving Exercises and Memory Enhancing Education.
