New Delhi : Amazon Prime’s India head Aparna Purohit has received a major setback from the Allahabad High Court. The court has rejected Aparna Purohit’s anticipatory bail plea. The court has expressed its displeasure over the content of Amazon Prime’s web series Tandav. The court clearly said that Hindu gods and goddesses cannot be insulted in the name of expression. The court said that respecting all religions was the objective of the framers of the constitution.

It is known that the High Court had reserved its decision in this regard after hearing on anticipatory bail on 4 February. In this case, the single bench of Justice Siddharth was hearing the case. The court stayed the arrest of Aparna Purohit till the judgment was reserved. An application was filed in the High Court on behalf of Aparna Purohit for anticipatory bail.

In the Tandav web series, the scene which insulted Lord Shiva was fiercely discussed. Due to this scene, not only this series but also its actors were fiercely trolled. An FIR was lodged in Gautam Buddha Nagar against Aparna Purohit and others. Aparna Purohit has been accused of messing with the sentiments of Hindu Gods and Goddesses through a web series broadcast.
