World’s largest Motera cricket stadium renamed to ‘Narendra Modi Stadium’

Ahmedabad : The third Test match of the four-match Test series between India and England will be played at Motera Stadium today. Earlier today, President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This stadium of Motera is the largest cricket stadium in the world, which has a seating capacity of 1 lakh 10 thousand spectators.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Governor Acharya Devavrat, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and BCCI Secretary Jai Shah were present at the inauguration ceremony. Addressing the program, Amit Shah said, “Today is the golden day for India’s sports world.”

Amit Shah further said, “There’ll be facilities for all the sports of the world here in Sardar Patel Sports Enclave. There will be training and accommodation for all the players of all sports of the country and the world.”

Amit Shah said, “Sardar Patel Sports Enclave, Narendra Modi Stadium and Sports Complex to be built at Narayanpura – all these three together will have complete arrangement to play all the games in any international event at the same level in the same city at the international level,” he said.

Special features of Motera Stadium –
– This stadium is built on 63 acres. The stadium has four dressing rooms and three practice grounds.
– It has facilities for both indoor and outdoor practice.
– The drainage system here is so modern that the match can start only half an hour after the rain stops.
– This is the first stadium in the country where special types of LED lights have also been installed.
