J&K: Team of foreign delegates will arrive to take stock of the situation in the valley

Jammu : After the District Development Council elections in Kashmir, a team of representatives from Europe and Africa will reach the Valley on a two-day tour today. The delegation will also meet Lt. Governor in Jammu on Thursday. The team includes representatives from various organizations besides diplomats.

Officials said that during the two-day visit, this delegation will take information about the development work done by the Union Territory Administration after the abolition of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and the end of statehood. Apart from this, newly elected members of DDC will also hold meetings with some prominent citizens and administrative secretaries.

Officials said that these representatives will be shown through a presentation how the Panchayats have been empowered by giving them financial powers. Senior officials associated with the law and order situation in the Kashmir Valley will inform this team about the security situation. It will also specifically address the efforts of Pakistan to push terrorists through the Line of Control and frequent ceasefire violations.

On the second day this delegation will visit Jammu. They will also meet the Deputy Governor besides the DDC members and representatives of some social organizations. Officials have termed the visit as a diplomatic exercise to deal with the malicious propaganda being carried out by Pakistan on international forums.
