Magnitude 7.7 earthquake hits Pacific Ocean, Tsunami warning issued

New Delhi : Tsunami alerts have been issued after a powerful earthquake in the southern Pacific Ocean. The magnitude of the earthquake on the Rector scale has been measured at 7.7. According to the US Geological Agency, the 7.7 magnitude earthquake was centered at a depth of six miles southeast of the Loyalty Islands. It has had its effect from New Zealand to Indonesia.

At the same time, the Australian Meteorological Agency has confirmed the news of a tsunami due to the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in the southern Pacific Ocean. The Bureau of Meteorology, Australia has cited a threat to Lord Howe Island.

Here, the American Tsunami Warning Center has issued tsunami warnings ranging from 0.3 to one meter (1 to 3.3 feet) for Vanuatu and Fiji. According to the information, no damage to any property has been reported so far.

It is being told that there was a powerful deep sea earthquake on Wednesday evening in the northern region of New Zealand, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers (six miles) southeast of Loyalty Island.
