New Delhi : The central government has announced to impose agri cess on petrol and diesel to strengthen the agriculture sector. The ‘Agri Infra Cess’ of Rs 2.5 per liter on petrol and Rs 4 per liter on diesel has been proposed in the budget of 2021-22. However, it has been made clear from the government that the burden of this cess will not be passed on to the customers. It will be charged from the company.

However, in the current era, the price of petrol and diesel is at historical highs. On Saturday, the rate of petrol in Mumbai was recorded at Rs 93.49. At the same time, the rate of petrol in the capital Delhi is 86.95 rupees, that is, about 87 rupees, Rs 89.39 in Chennai and Rs 88.30 per liter in Kolkata.

On the other hand, if you talk about diesel, its price is Rs 83.99 per liter in Mumbai, Rs 82.33 per liter in Chennai, Rs 80.71 per liter in Kolkata and Rs 77.13 per liter in the capital Delhi. Compared to last year, the price of petrol has increased by about Rs 20 in just one year, while the price of diesel has been increased by about Rs 15.

According to the website of Indian Oil, petrol prices in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai were Rs 72.68, Rs 75.36, Rs 78.34 and Rs 75.51 per liter respectively on 7 February 2020.

At the same time, the price of diesel in the four metros has also gone up to Rs 65.68, Rs 68.04, Rs 68.84 and Rs 69.73 per liter respectively.
