New Delhi: Controversy has started even before the commencement of the budget session. 16 parties, including the Congress, have decided to boycott the President’s address to be held during this period. The budget session will begin on Friday with President Ram Nath Kovind addressing the joint sitting of the two houses of parliament.

The 16 opposition parties, including the Congress, have decided to boycott President Ramnath Kovind’s address, expressing solidarity with the farmers agitating against the agriculture laws. Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad gave this information.

Leaders of opposition parties issued a statement saying, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government have remained arrogant, obstinate and undemocratic on the demands of the farmers. Shocked by the insensitivity of the government, we the opposition parties have decided by repeating the demand for repeal of the three farm laws and in solidarity with the farmers, that the President’s address will be boycotted.’

Which parties are involved?
Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, National Conference, DMK, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Shiv Sena, SP, RJD, CPI (M), CPI, IUML, RSP, PDP, MDMK, Kerala Congress (M) and AIUDF.
