New rates of Parliament Canteen : Veg thali for Rs 100, non-veg buffet Rs 700, Here’s the new menu

New Delhi : The budget session of Parliament is scheduled to run from 29 January to 15 February. Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has taken a big decision and completely abolished the subsidy received on the canteen of Parliament.

Along with this, a new list has also been released. Now a Veg thali for 100 rupees and non-veg buffet lunch will be available for 700 rupees in the canteen of Parliament. The demand of scrapping the subsidy from the canteen of Parliament was constantly rising.

If you look at the new rate list, then the cheapest is only the chapatis in the canteen of Parliament, which costs three rupees. At the same time, you will have to spend 700 rupees for non-veg buffet lunch. Apart from this, now chicken biryani will be available for 100 rupees, chicken curry 75 rupees, plane dosa 30 rupees, mutton biryani 150 rupees. Now you will have to spend 50 rupees for veg pakoras.

Earlier, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had given information about ending the subsidy from the canteen and said that the subsidy received to MPs and others has been completely banned. Members of all parties in the Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha had agreed to abolish it by forming an opinion. Now the food available in the canteen will be available at a fixed price.

Every year the canteen of Parliament was being given a subsidy of about Rs 17 crore. In 2017-18, an RTI revealed the Parliament’s rate list, according to which, in Parliament canteen, chicken curry is served at Rs 50 and the veg thali is served at Rs 35. At the same time, the price of a three course lunch was about 106 rupees. Not only this, in South Indian food, MPs used to get plain dosa only for 12 rupees.

During the Parliament session commencing on 29 January, the Rajya Sabha will conduct proceedings from 9 am to 2 pm and the Lok Sabha will be from 4 pm to 8 pm.
