Bird Flu : States advised to maintain enough stock of PPE Kits

New Delhi : After the outbreak of bird flu in ten states of the country, the central government has issued an advisory on the protocol related to the investigation on Tuesday. Also, PPE kits and other equipment have also been asked to be kept in sufficient quantity. As of Monday, bird flu infections were confirmed in Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat.

The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said avian influenza was confirmed among the ravens found dead in HCL Khetri Nagar in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan till 12 January. Bird flu has also been found in the zoo in Kanpur and Jaganoli and Fatehpur villages in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

Avian influenza (bird flu) was confirmed in Madhya Pradesh’s Jhabua district after a report from Bhopal’s lab on Tuesday. After this the Animal Husbandry Department has issued advisory to the States regarding the Testing Protocol. Central teams have been sent to monitor Gujarat and Maharashtra. Awareness about bird flu is being spread in public. States have been asked to keep sufficient quantities of PPE kits and other equipment.
