New Delhi : The movement of farmers against the new agricultural laws of the central government has been going on for 48 days. Today, all the cases related to agitation and agriculture laws are being heard in the Supreme Court. Farmers are being advocated by senior lawyers Prashant Bhushan and Dushyant Dave. During the hearing, the Supreme Court asked the Central Government to stop the law at the moment. If you do not put it, then we will stop it. The petitioner’s lawyer Harish Salve said that only the disputed parts should be stopped. On this, the Supreme Court said that no, we will ban the entire law.

What happened during the hearing in the Supreme Court?
Attorney General – All parties agree to continue negotiations
CJI – We are very disappointed. Don’t know how the government was dealing with the issue? Whom did you discuss before making the law? Have been saying for many days that the matter is being discussed. Where’s the result?

Attorney General – Expert Committee formed before law. Discussed with many people. Earlier governments are also trying in this direction.
CJI – The argument that the earlier government started it would not work

CJI – You have put the court in a very strange position. People are saying what the court should hear or not. But we want to make our intention clear. Find a common solution. If you understand, then do not insist on the implementation of the law at the moment After this, start talking. We have also done research.
Solicitor General – A large number of farmer organizations consider the law beneficial.

CJI – No one has come before us who says so. Therefore, we do not want to go on it. If a large number of people feel that the law is beneficial then tell the committee. You tell me whether you will ban the law or not. Otherwise we will ban it.

CJI – You are unable to find a solution. People are dying, committing suicide. We do not know why women and old people are also staging protests. Well, we are going to make a committee.

CJI – Whether you trust us or not. We are the Supreme Court of the country. We will do our job.

Harish Salve, counsel for the petitioner – only prohibit disputed parts of the law

CJI – No we will ban the entire law. We fear that someday violence may erupt there.

Salve – At least there should be assurance that the movement will be postponed. All will go before the committee

CJI – This is what we want. But everything cannot be done by one order. We will not say that no one can agitate. You can say that do not do it at that place.
