Maharashtra : 10 newborns died in a horrific fire broke out at Bhandara district hospital

10 newborns have died due to fire that broke out in the district hospital of Bhandara, Maharashtra. Civil surgeon of the district hospital Dr Pramod Khandate said that 17 newborns were kept in the children’s ward. Late Saturday, a nurse was seen emitting smoke from this ward. After which it came to know about this accident.

Fire had broken out at the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) due to a short circuit at the district hospital late at night. There were a total of 17 children in this ward. Seeing the smoke coming out, the nurses and the hospital people rushed to the ward. But by then 10 newborns had died. Only those children are kept in this ward, whose condition is critical, whose weight is also very low.
According to the information, seeing the smoke rising in the SNCU, the nurse on duty opened the door of the ward and immediately told the hospital officials. After which the fire brigade reached the spot and started a rescue operation with the help of people in the hospital, in which 7 children were rescued.
On the other hand, after this painful death of newborn children, their families are in a painful state. A crowd of people has gathered outside the hospital. People are demanding an inquiry into the fire incident. Many people are calling it a hospital’s negligence.
