New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, a day after the drug regulator approved the limited emergency use of two vaccines that the world’s largest vaccination campaign to control the corona virus was about to begin in the country. He praised scientists and technicians for vaccines manufactured in India and said that the country is proud of them.
PM Modi said, ‘The world’s largest Covid19 vaccination program will start in India. For this, the country is proud of the contribution of its scientists and technicians.’ Addressing the scientists at the National Measurement System Conference, Modi said that it would be necessary to ensure that India-made products not only have global demand, but also have global acceptance.
He said, ‘The quality of a product is as important as its quantity. Along with taking steps towards achieving the goal of self-reliant India, our standards should also be high.’
The drug regulator of India on Sunday approved limited emergency use of Covishield in the country, an indigenously developed vaccine produced by the Serum Institute of India, the Oxford Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covishield’ and the Bharat Biotech vaccine, which paved the way for a comprehensive vaccination campaign.
